I ♥ Faces: Pink

"October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month...and we know that many of us have been affected by this horrible disease...either personally or by watching a loved one suffer through it.

In honor of those who have walked this path, we are sponsoring an I ♥ Faces "Pink Week."

The photo that you enter should be a representation of "pink" in whatever way you'd like it to be...the color pink, a photo of someone walking at a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser, a photo of someone you know who has fought this disease...whatever it is that you think best represents "Pink Week" to you. " ---from the founders of I ♥ Faces

I have three daughters and A LOT of pink pictures. I was really excited about posting a fun, pretty, pink picture. When I read through the theme though, a different picture came to mind.

I have not personally endured this disease, but I have several friends who have.

I chose this picture of my daughter because it feels real to me. She's a little dirty and tired. I also see hope and strength in it. From the rays of sunshine to the ears of corn to the sober gaze of my daughter's unflinching eyes.
